Preston, Tyne and Wear UK

Who are you and what do you do?
'I am Sam McLoughlin, born in Preston, Lancashire and I moved to Newcastle upon Tyne to study at the age of eighteen. Since then I have settled at the beautiful North East coast and interestingly ended up in the Preston area of North Shields. I live just off Preston Road, near Preston Park and my girls go to school on Preston Avenue. So it has worked out pretty well for me as a keen Preston North End fan!

Why do you choose to live in Preston?
'The North East coast is so beautiful. Maybe not the warmest, but it has gorgeous beaches and a community of creative little businesses.'

What's your favourite place in Preston and why?
'Tynemouth Cricket Club is a great community hub and a perfect spot to enjoy some sun with the family. They also attract big crowds with their annual fireworks display.'

What is Preston proud of?
'The local high school John Spence Community High has recently produced talented musician Sam Fender and two Premier League football stars Sean and Matty Longstaff.'

Tell us something about Preston that people won't know?
'The local rugby club Percy Park hosted New Zealand on their first ever tour of Great Britain back in 1905. They played Northumberland and won 31.0.'
